After reading the novel I can say- Matthias is thoughtful and proactive, as he shows love by performing acts of service and anticipating needs. He often thinks ahead to meet Layla’s needs before they are even voiced. He is someone who “actions speak louder than words,” and his gestures demonstrate that he understands and cares about Layla’s well-being.He notices the little things, like her preference for sweets, sandwich and soda, and acts on them to show he pays attention.He supports her by reducing her workload that she has to do as duchess so she can study peacefully and spend the remaining time with family.He takes initiative by doing things without being asked, showing a deep level of care and intentionality in the relationship.
When Layla finally accepts him, she embraces his love language of “Providing” and does not misunderstand his acts of service as pity or humiliation.❤️🩹
The scene changed a lot, in the novel they’re talking when the car was heading to the destination. And Layla was supposed to study Matthias’s expression here and after that her words were like this-
“She looked at him, trying to figure out the emotion’s name. He was looking right back at her. Behind his expressionless face, the dull, gray blur of the city rushed by. As she continued to look at him, she started to detect a hint of loneliness behind his eyes.”
